The three outside requests
- Typefaces. Big Shoulders Display and Commissioner are served by Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google's servers, which see your IP address. Google's terms apply to that request.
- Explainer videos. A few chapters show a still with a play button. Until you press it, your browser never contacts YouTube. Pressing it opens the video through youtube-nocookie, under YouTube's own privacy terms.
- Links. Links to GOV.UK, HSE, JCT and other sources take you to their sites, where their own policies apply.
Our own films and stills are served from this site and use no tracking.
What stays on your device
The quote comparison tool keeps the figures you type in your browser's local storage, so a half-finished comparison survives a closed tab. It is never sent anywhere. Press "Clear all quotes" in the tool, or clear this site's data in your browser, to remove it. The payment schedule and route chooser store nothing.
Server logs
Like any website, the host's servers may keep short technical logs of requests (IP address, page requested, time and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Your rights
Because the site holds no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you think something has gone wrong, the Information Commissioner's Office handles data protection complaints in the UK.
